DESCRIPTION:Jackfield Tile Museum \n5 Aug 2019 – 9 Aug 2019 \n \n\nThis summer take inspiration from some of the classic designs at the museum and create your own ceramic masterpiece! \nWhich of the worlds best designers will you be inspired by? Maybe Salvador Dali\, William Morris or de Morgan. \nOur fun tile decorating workshops will take place on a weekday during the summer school holidays 29 July and 30 August. \nThe Victorian tube lining technique will be used to decorate the tiles\, which is just like icing a cake! Once you’ve piped on the design you can add colourful glazes\, then leave your tile at the museum where it will be fired in a kiln to reveal the dazzling colours and posted to your home; or you can collect it from Jackfield if you live nearby. \nTiles are priced from £5 each (p&p extra to have your tile sent home after firing) plus the museum admission fee. Drop-in workshops start from 10 am\, the last admission is at 3.15pm.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 17\, 2019 to Sunday\, August 18\, 2019 \nTravel on replicas of our original 1903 Great Western liveried bogie carriages\, with goods wagons and brake van attached\, and watch the shunting at each end of the trip. Each weekend will feature additional historical activities\, including demonstration freight movements\, trans-shipment\, heritage steam-powered road vehicles\, agricultural displays. \nThe ‘Vintage Trains’ depart Llanfair Caereinion at 11:10 and 14:45\, or from Welshpool at 13:05 and 16:20 (no return train available from Llanfair Caereinion). \nOur other departures on the day will be hauled by one of our other steam locomotives\, with passenger accommodation in our regular Austrian and Hungarian carriages.

DESCRIPTION:Come along for an outdoor cinema experience\, showing The Greatest Showman on the Green at Blists Hill Victorian Town. \nInspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum\, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show-business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. The film is rated PG\, all children must be accompanied by an adult. \nParking is in the main car park at Blists Hill Victorian Town and the doors will open at 7.30pm. \nBring your own blankets\, pillows or low-backed chairs and make yourselves comfy for the show. We’re not providing any seating although some pillows and blankets will be available to hire on the night. \nBefore the show you are welcome to enjoy the Fairground (pay per ride) and grab something to eat and drink from the Forest Glen Refreshment Pavilion which will be selling alcohol\, hot and cold drinks and snacks including popcorn\, ice creams\, loaded nachos and hotdogs. You can also bring their own food and drink. \nThe event will take place come rain or shine\, so please be well prepared with warm and waterproof clothing. However\, in the circumstance of unsafe weather\, the event will be rescheduled. DESCRIPTION:Our event has grown rapidly over the past few years\, from humble beginnings based in a local pub to an event which attracted around 10\,000 visitors for the 2017 weekend. \nSet in the stunning backdrop of the Ironbridge Gorge\, we recreate the experience of life during WW2 on both the home front and in occupied Europe with civilian\, Allied and Axis re-enactors. \nThis is a non-profit making\, charity fundraising event in which we raise funds for the Pilgrim Bandits.  So far last year’s event raised over £7000\, with donations still to be collected. \nThe Pilgrim Bandits have the sole aim of using their unique training and experience to help and inspire wounded soldiers to live life to the full.\nPlease click on the link below to visit their website and learn more about the wonderful work they do.

DESCRIPTION:If there’s one thing we can guarantee at Shropshire Kids Festival – it’s fun!\nWe are creating fun\, fun and more fun and maybe inspire you to try a new sport\, see if you are a budding thespian\, maybe a music artist of the future perhaps.. or perhaps you will be inspired to be the next Stephen Hawking or are you a budding Bear Grylls? \nThere is just too much FUN!\n\n\nAnd it isn’t just any old fun. We’re gearing ourselves up for super-extra-massive bonkers fun. Our battalion of inflatables will be back this year giving children plenty of opportunities to bounce around. While participation is strictly children only (sorry adults)\, we’re sure these bouncy bundles of fun will have everyone in the family laughing their socks off.  There will be a special under 5’s area with pint sized inflatable’s for little ones to enjoy\, but for older children we’ve really ramped up the fun factor! \nOK\, so\, how about spending your weekend sliding down a massive inflatable helter-skelter? Don’t get too dizzy though or you’ll miss out on the disco dome – it’s a partyyyyy! Giant games\, mini golf\, Go Karts\, Bubble Football and the sports day style Harry Games will bring out kids competitive sides. \n140ft of FREE zipwire fun\, can be enjoyed thanks to Rybrook Shrewsbury BMW\, where you will have the opportunity to fly the length of 10 cars at high speeds – hold on tight! \nThe monster obstacle course at the lower end of the site proved to be a huge success last year so we have added another one too to double the fun!  Cheer your children on as they make their way through tunnels\, over giant air filled ramps and much more. \nMore free activties include Wipe Out and Zorbing.  If you’ve ever fancied a go a zorbing then now is the perfect opportunity.  Zorb balls will be rolling around throughout the festival weekend. Can your kids stay on the giant circular Wipe-Out challenge? Can they leap and avoid the spinning beam? Come along and see! \nIf that wasn’t enough the foam parties are definitely the place to be\, split into two areas for the big and small kids!  Hours of good clean fun is ready and waiting\, but don’t worry mum and dad there will be changing areas\, so no one has to go home covered in foam\, unless they want to of course – bring a towel to enjoy this FREE activity! \nTWO water slides… yes two…. 50m and 25m slides run by Nick Jones Wealth Management to allow big and little kids to enjoy the slippery fun with a donation to the Harry Johnson Trust\, raising money for this amazing charity. \nAND SO MUCH MORE …\n

DESCRIPTION:The Easter Bunny will be visiting the railway on the 20th to 22nd April.  Watch for Easter eggs along the line and check them off the list.  All travelling children receive a handsome chocolate egg on arrival at Llanfair Caereinion. \nAbout The Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. \nThe Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway was built in 1903 to link farming communities with the market town of Welshpool and provide them with an outlet for their produce. Operated at first by the Cambrian Railways\, the line was taken over by the Great Western and then British Railways. \nAfter 1931 the railway only carried freight traffic and was finally closed in 1956; but that was not the end. In 1963 a group of enthusiasts rallied round and began to progressively re-open the line until it became the railway you see today. \n

DESCRIPTION:At Jackfield Tile Museum you can create your own floral-themed designs at family drop-in tile decorating workshops on weekdays over the Easter break. \nDesigns can be as colourful and original as your imagination allows\, perhaps a bouquet of spring flowers\, a garden scene or a big bold daffodil. \nThe Victorian tube lining technique will be used to decorate the tiles\, which is just like icing a cake! DESCRIPTION:Travel on replicas of our original 1903 Great Western liveried bogie carriages\, with goods wagons and brake van attached\, and watch the shunting at each end of the trip. Each weekend will feature additional historical activities\, including demonstration freight movements\, trans-shipment\, heritage steam-powered road vehicles\, agricultural displays. \nThe ‘Vintage Trains’ depart Llanfair Caereinion at 11:10 and 14:45\, or from Welshpool at 13:05 and 16:20 (no return train available from Llanfair Caereinion). \nOur other departues on the day will be hauled by one of our other steam locomotives\, with passenger accommodation in our regular Austrian and Hungarian carriages.
